Riggs Cottage is located near the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake on the lower slopes of Sale Fell and is equidistant  from the market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth ( both approximately six miles ).

Keswick and Cockermouth contain a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants and for those rainy days visit the local Keswick Spa and attractions. Theatres are situated in Keswick (Theatre on the Lake) and Cockermouth (Kirkgate Centre).

The cottage is in an ideal location for walkers and mountain bikers and is within easy reach of the northern fells and lakes including Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwenwater, Buttermere and Crummock Water. Visit the spectacular Scale Force waterfall accessible via a rocky walk from the car park at Buttermere.

The Pheasant Inn and Restaurant is a pleasant ½ mile walk from the cottage and is ideal for those looking for a relaxed Sunday lunch.
